Abrasive blasting of containers, silos, steel structures and crane parts
The perfect preparation for long-lasting coating systems
At Groenenboom Container Projects & Coatings, we believe that a durable finish starts with the right surface preparation. Abrasive blasting is key to optimal coating adhesion and extending the lifespan of metal objects. Whether it’s containers, silos, steel structures or crane boom sections – we blast every component with precision and craftsmanship.
Experts in industrial abrasive blasting
Our blasting facility is fully equipped to treat a wide range of metal parts, from small components to large steel structures. Using advanced blasting techniques, we remove rust, old paint layers, mill scale and other contaminants to ensure a clean and roughened surface – the ideal base for coating adhesion.
We blast, among others:
- (Offshore) containers
- Storage silos
- Steel structural components
- Crane booms and heavy-duty machine parts
Tailored blasting techniques for every material
Depending on the material and application, we use the most effective blasting method:
- Steel blasting according to ISO 8501-1 standards: We apply cleanliness grades Sa 1 (light cleaning) and Sa 2½ (thorough cleaning) to remove rust, mill scale and contaminants. These internationally recognised standards ensure proper adhesion and long-term protection.
- Blasting of stainless steel and aluminium with fossil grit: For more delicate metals, we use fossil grit – a softer abrasive that cleans without damaging the surface. Ideal for stainless steel and aluminium parts.
Benefits of professional blasting
Choosing professional blasting comes with several important advantages:
- Extended lifespan: Removing corrosion and contamination creates the ideal foundation for long-term protection.
- Essential for coating adhesion: A properly prepared surface ensures better adhesion and performance of coating systems.
- AMPP-compliant procedures: Our blasting operations follow the guidelines of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), guaranteeing safety, quality and durability.
One-stop solution – from blasting to coating
After blasting, we can directly apply a high-quality industrial coating in our in-house paint shop. This ensures faster turnaround, fewer transport movements and full quality control from start to finish.
