During Girls’ Day 2026, we opened our doors to introduce young girls to the world of technology. And it turned out to be a day to remember.
At our container facility in Oosterhout, the students got a behind-the-scenes look: from designing and modifying containers to blasting and coating them. Not just watching, but doing was key. Getting hands-on, discovering and experiencing what working in technology is really like.
This year, our Girls’ Day focused on defence and technological innovation. With the presence of State Secretary of Defence Derk Boswijk, the Mayor of Oosterhout, and Member of Parliament Anne-Marijke Podt, the day had a special character. They emphasized the importance of attracting more technical talent and especially more women into both industry and defence.
The reality is clear: women are still underrepresented in technology. At the same time, this is exactly where major opportunities lie, not only for the sector, but also for the next generation that is still choosing its future path.
At Groenenboom, we believe you only truly understand technology by experiencing it yourself. That’s why during Girls’ Day we show how diverse the field is: from heavy industry to smart, innovative container solutions for sectors such as defence, infrastructure and offshore.
